AAC is a common lossy audio codec used in streaming, mobile playback and smaller encoded releases. It is efficient and widely compatible, and may be stereo or multichannel, but the AAC label alone does not mean lossless audio, immersive sound or a premium home-theater track. It is practical on phones, tablets, computers and ordinary TVs; compare channel count and alternate tracks when theater audio matters.
