DTS or DTS Core is the traditional lossy DTS core track, often labeled DTS, DTS 5.1 or DTS Core. It is not the same format as DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HRA or DTS:X. Some DTS-HD tracks contain a backward-compatible DTS Core, but the core itself remains a lossy base layer. It is useful for surround compatibility on older receivers and players.
